Largemouth BassTechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureFlooded BrushCaught some decent fish early on the green flapping frog reeled slowly. They ate it great, to the back of their throat. As the day went on, had to switch to the crankbait and a black/blue jig. Water level came up 6 inches throughout the day and still rising. The picture is the San Augustine ramp where the water was well above the rocks on the ramp

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureLaydownsSam Rayburn is historically high right now and with that there is more than plenty enough cover to fish. My recent trips down there have been fairly successful focusing on main lake willow and cypress trees where baitfish activity is present. Throwing a buzzbait with a soft plastic trailer or hollow body frog is great for early in the morning. As the day wears on begin flipping a texas rig plastic to the willow and cypress trees and any isolated bushes. Start by pitching the outer edges first especially if there is cloud cover. Early in the day and with cloud cover the fish wont hold as tight but will still be close. Later in the day start attacking the heart of the cover. 20 pound flurocarbon, a pegged 3/8 ounce weight, the bait of your choice, and the appropriate hook to go with it is all you need attached to your favorite flipping set up.
