I got out on Shawano lake for a little bit this past weekend, and I was able to catch a couple bass and pike after doing some searching. The lake is turned over and most of the summer vegetation is dead and brown. I fished some dead reed patches and caught a couple small fish, but it was pretty slow. I cruised to the back of a pocket near a marina to shallower area with warmer water (1-3ft), and found some remaining grass that wasn't completely dead. In this same area, some of the dead weeds had formed small isolated this mat areas. I used a frog near these areas and caught some good ones. I also caught come pike on a spook in the same area.

Bobber fishing the lilipads during the bluegill spawn can be incredible! Move around until you find them (which it doesn’t take long) and once you find them, you’re set for a day of fun! Use a small jig with a chunk of crawler and that’s all you need!
