I spent a good hour plus in a productive area, but the fish weren’t interested in my frogs and toads. I then spent a couple hours trying some deeper rock and didn’t get bit. I went back into the reeds and hit pay dirt with the Terminator Poppin Frog, KVD Sexy Frog, and Z-Man Billy Goat. Unfortunately, I missed some quality bites as well. I ended the trip finding a school of quality bass that had reconstituted itself on a particular rice edge that we crushed them on in July until we had fished them out and disbursed the school. They were back schooled up there today. My best six between Platte and Sullivan weighed just under 17lbs.

After fishing docks in Platte I headed to the reeds in Sullivan for the last hour plus of daylight in Sullivan. I wasn’t disappointed. The highlight’s were the four pounder in the picture, which took the ToadZ in 5” of water and another bass that was at least as big that jumped a couple of feet out of the water broadside to me giving me an excellent look that hung me in the reeds and got off. You win some and you lose some in the reeds. I have fallen in love with the green pumpkin ToadZ. It’s my go to color for Platte/Sullivan.
