Fishing wasn't too bad on Red lake. Fish moved a lot and we marked a lot of them but they did not want any jigging or sudden movements. The best way to fish these walleyes and perch was to deadstick a fathead minnow on a the smallest tungsten or plain hook you have in your tackle. You can hook it through the mouth, tail, or dorsal, they all produced equally from what I seen. Leaving it at multiple depths from 1ft, 2ft, and 3ft off the bottom. Most of the fish bite at 1ft off the bottom.

The bite starts out hot early ice in varying depths depending on ice conditions. As the season goes on and the fishing pressure increases, people will move out further out onto the lake in depths of 11'-13' ft of water where the bite can be better.
