Key bait was the lipless crankbait. All fish were caught in a weed line in 6-9’ of water. A mix of largemouth and northern pike throughout the day. Caught near 50 fish in the 7 hours I was out.

Fish the weed beds between 5 & 13 feet deep. No need to Texas rig the TRD or use a weed guard on your Ned. If you alternate between dragging and hopping the Ned, vegetation is still sparse enough where you can work it through gently without getting snagged up and dragging weeds back to the boat. If you do this you’ll catch some little baby bass, some sunnies, and some decent sized bass too! Give it a try, keep your lines tight, and good luck!

Slightly slower than my usual crank bait retrieve, but after thinking about my day of fishing... I'm wondering if I would have gotten better results if I had fished faster. Varied intervals of retrieval with occasional pops over the weed beds and holes in the weed beds

Actually had this northern follow my bait back to my boat while I was reeling in, just messing around using the shakey head to go just over the tops of weeds like a swim bait. He turned around when he saw the boat, but I cast again and did the same thing and he took it. Might try this again in the future.
