What you need to know about fishing Willow Reservoir

Willow Reservoir is 6,306-acre flowage located west of US Hwy 51 along County Hwy Y in Oneida County. Getting on the water is relatively easy with two major boat ramps and seven access points. Boats are the preferred method of fishing since 95 percent of the shoreline is undeveloped and consists of swamp-like lowlands. That mixed with 106 islands makes you feel like you are in the remote wilderness. There are also many campsites scattered throughout the lake making an overnight stay a welcoming one. Bays that are close to deep water offer great Ice-out walleye fishing spots with a simple jig and minnow. Weed lines and grass edges provide excellent shelter for largemouth bass during the summer months. Common bait choices are jigs or Texas rigged soft plastics in darker or brighter colors. With many steep edges throughout the lake, key in on the edges that come from deeper water and have expansive shallow flats behind them. Smallmouth bass will use the steep shoreline throughout the year to easily navigate between their summer and wintering holes. Max Depth: 30 ft, Average Depth: 10 ft
