I just won 3rd place out of 68 Kayak Anglers for the TN B.A.S.S. Nation Kayak trail on Guntersville 5/21/2022. I found a pattern flipping emergent vegetation in various water depths and fishing rip rap with a jig. The bass were eating bluegill and crawfish (found several in the throats of the fish I was catching). I caught many 17 inch plus fish that day and it was an absolute blast. As the day went on and got hotter I would fish a little deeper. I found the bass stacked in the thickest grass from 2ft all the way out to almost 10ft deep. I rotated between a junebug turbo fatty and and a blue craw/green pumpkin swirl rage menace flipping grass and fished a green pumpkin jig with the green pumpkin blue flake xzone craw on the back fishing the rip rap.

I was discussing scanning some ledges with my neighbor and that I had found a few big stumps that were loaded with Crappie. He said he want to go catch some so off we went. Dropped and casted Bobby Garland 2 inch Baby Shads in some of the pink shades on them using Active Target 2 to position the boat just right. We even caught some off some bridges before all the holiday weekend traffic hit the lake. Teaching a 80 year old the new electronics was fun. And watching big bass com into the school and eat a fish and take off back to deep water was pretty cool.

A lot of these fish have spawned and are eating. I'm staying around 10 to 15 feet deep close to the river channel . Looking for grass throwing the big spinnerbait. You can also use swimbaits and big worms.

Fished from Goose Pond to Roseberry. Fished the worm like a spinnerbait, out of sight, around milfoil and eel grass. Pegged weight 3/16oz. Secondary channel off the main river. Grass in 3-6’. Caught most fish Memorial Day from 2-7pm. Had 17-18lbs. If you have never tried winning a worm in the grass, it is an awesome/fun way to fish. My kids love it. Violent bites in the current.
