Spotted bass were blowing up on shad. Tossed out the gunfish and immediately caught a fish. Missed the next one and changed over to the showerblows which kept the bait in the stroke zone longer. This change resulted in several more fish.

We started the morning fishing the shad spawn. We were targeting this on main-lake red clay banks. We caught fish throwing a spinnerbait up near the bank and reeling it back to the boat. Once the shad quit spawning we moved into coves and started targeting fry guarders. We found these around shallow docks with brush under them. We caught the bass guarding fry with a wacky rigged senko. When the sun was out we were able to see specific bass and cast to them and catch them.
