Air temps were around 65 degrees and water temps were just over that in shallow water. We were in calm waters, winds at about 5mph, pushing us northeast away from the LSC shoreline. These post spawn smallies were feasting on minnows, as we found one that coughed up the hatch they were feeding on. The Keitech Fat Swing Impact (3.8”) in Smallmouth Magic did the trick. Retrieve was fairly fast as they weren’t biting at slower speeds.

Avoiding fishing on beds and targeting the Lake St Clair smallmouth in more challenging spots. Air temps in the mid 80s, but hit this one earlier in the day before the sun got too high in cloudy water in a depth transition. 12-7FOW transition area.

If the water is as clear as it was when I was fishing, and the wind was kicking up as it has been a lot recently, throw the most natural looking jerkbaits you can find in about 6-10 feet above the boulders and new growing weeds. I found lots of success with the matte perch and clear laker colors as they are great imitators of their forage.
