Went out and found fish fishing flooded bushes. The lake is really high and the steeper banks seemed to be holding fish in the dirty water and the fish in the cleaner water are very scattered. It’s the time of year to pick a creek and grab your flipping stick and get after them 🎣

Fished the Joe Bass Team Trail tournament. Had a good day except couldn't buy a keeper. I caught 23 bass with only one keeper and this is a 13" lake. 1.67 lbs. Pomme seldom whips me, but did this time. A few fish on top water running early shade, the rest on the 3XD on rocky points.

Fish were very active early in the day and then seemed to get tight to the cover as the sun got high. Water clarity was strained and skies were bluebird with no wind at all.

Get out early! Pomme de Terre was on fire from June 2nd through the 4th. The morning bite was great near channel swings and bluff ends. Most of our action up until about 7:30-8 came on a 1/2oz black and blue Jack Hammer with a blk/blu The Goat trailer. Keeper (over 13" at Pomme) largemouth were crushing that in 1-8' of water. My buddy was throwing a black spinnerbait which was also getting bit, but not nearly as frequent as that Jack Hammer. After the sun got up I could get some keeper bites on various lures such as the LV500 lipless in Ghost Minnow. I tried a different brand and in chrome, and it didn't produce for me. Side note, all spices of other fish were hitting that LV500 as well, white bass, drum, carp, kentuckys, etc. As good as the lipless was getting bit (on the right banks) our most consistant late morning-afternoon bite was with a soft-plastic on the bottom. On most of the bluff ends or transistions we were consistantly picking up keepers. The key for us was fishing it slow with either a 3/16 or 1/4oz weight. I was using a paited weight, but I'm not sure if that mattered since they were biting various colors of soft plastic baits. Between my buddy and I, in 3 days of fishing we caught at LEAST 50 keepers. The weather is pretty stable right now, I would think the bite on these baits will hold up for a while.
