Spent a couple of hours on the local pond hitting some of my normal spots. Due to me not charging my cranking battery, I was limited to just the trolling motor, but that didn't stop me. All but one fish was caught cranking rocky points. The fish really seemed to be short-striking, so relying on a St. Croix glass cranking rod was crucial to keeping fish pinned. Stopping and starting the plug was imperative to drawing strikes. The weight could have been better, but with some more time and mobility, the size would have definitely been better.

Fished Tuesday evening tourney, got 1st with 15.69lbs. All fish came on either green pumpkin Yamatanuki on 4/0 wide gap hook or 4" green pumpkin bps stick worm on a 1/0 wide gap hook, weightless. We caught lots of fish on wood, shallow banks, in coves. Saw some on beds. Water temps were low 70's where we were.

Fished the Tuesday nighter on Alum. Upper 60's, sunny, little breezy. 58 degrees main lake, cove we fished was reading 68. Caught fish all evening, flipping the bitsy bug mentioned above and throwing a weightless stick worm. Ended up with 9.9 lbs, had one good one that went 3.7lbs couldn't find any more good ones to go with her. Took 13 lbs to win, 10.6 got your money back. 34 boats fished it, 139 fish weighed in, 123 green and 13 brown for 254.3 lbs. Pretty good evening for a 3.5 hr derby. Males are on bank starting to make beds, females are cruising close by.

Crank the main lake points. I found several large bass on each point. Some of them were on the very tip and others slightly farther back. With the spring waters being slightly stained, make sure you use the red or orange/red crankbaits. I found them from 3' to 9' depending on the point

Tuesday evening tourney, 4 of our 5, weighed in 15.58lbs, good enough for 3rd out of 29 boats. Largies are pushing up to spawn. All our fish came on War eagle spinnerbaits, bitsy bugs and a weightless stick worm. Highest temp we saw was 68 where we were at, clarity was good, lake was up a few inches from recent rains.
