1/2 ounce Zman spinnerbaits are crushing largemouth in and around submerged vegetation. Zman jigs are the ticket once the sun gets high. Skip them under and around docks. Isolated docks are producing best.

Largemouth bass, striper, and white bass can be found schooling in large numbers first thing in the morning and just before sundown off rocky points in 5-10 foot of water. They are schooling mostly on threadfin shad which are pushing shallow in hoards in preparation for their spawn.

Today I focused on targeting stripers in fast current. Stripers loves to hangout in fast current to feed on bait that is being wash down. The area I was fishing today range from 15ft to 3ft of water. The dam was open so the current was pretty fast. To fish for these stripers, I was drifting flukes along the bottom with the current while also jigging it. With the fast current, I threw a 3/4 oz jig head with a white zoom super fluke. I was throwing this on my st croix mojo surf spinning 9ft with my stradic 4000. I had 20 lb braid with 20 lb mono on it. The trick with this technique is you have to feel your jig bouncing the bottom but not get snag. If you aren’t making bottom contact, you’re less likely to get a bite because these stripers are hiding in the rocks waiting for bait to wash by them.
