When targeting early post-spawn bass, one of my favorite techniques is fishing outside grass lines near deep water. With fish moving off of beds and out towards summer time holes, outside grass lines provide them an easy stopping point to feed up. Flipping a 1/2oz compact Ike Mini Flip Jig to grass lines was key to getting bites from largemouth on Lake George. These fish were eating bluegill that were swimming around this deeper water transition. The color I used was Bamer Craw with a 4” Green Pumpkin Berkley Chigger Craw. I prefer 20lb test Fluorocarbon line, a Heavy action 7’3” to 7’6” Rod, and an Abu Garcia STX 7.3:1 Gear Ratio Reel.
