Fish were mostly on bait balls in the middle where you could target them with a minnow. but the better quality (2+ pounders) were grouped up on shallow rock but were very hard to catch, but that’s where the dropshot came in handy. We lost two. Big ones that definitely would have helped get the win on the minnow but that’s just how it goes. We got 2nd with 8.92lbs

This past weekend’s tournament drew over 17 boats to a small lake. Heavy pressure had most anglers beating the banks, which kept many of the larger fish pulled off and made for challenging conditions. Adding to the difficulty, recent rains caused a 5–8° water temperature drop and set up some less-than-favorable parameters for bass activity. The most consistent bite came from working the bottom patiently. Carolina rigs and drop shots targeting bass on flats and points produced reliable results. A few fish were picked up by slow winding crankbaits across those same points. A handful of suspended bass could be tempted with minnow-style baits, providing another option. Overall, success came to those who slowed down and kept presentations near the bottom. The conditions demanded patience and precision, with subtle adjustments separating limits from tough days.

The fall transition was in effect, with fish scattered and junk fishing was the game of the day. We found most fishing in higher oxygen areas mid-lake, where there was still some stain in the water. The morning bite was slower-moving top waters, then we found bass pitching into structure. Later in the afternoon, fish were on points and were targeted with minnows, crank baits, and swim baits.

Most fish were hanging off the bank in the 8-12ft range and pinned to the bottom during the late afternoon and into the evening. A scrounger near the bottom produced bites, and a Carolina rig probably would have worked well too. They wanted something slower than a crank bait. As the sun fell and the shad started moving up, so did the bass. A free loader rigged hover style targeted those bass.

Fall transition is in effect with bass spread out. The bite was good with most fish caught in the slot limit from inches off the bank to bass still staged on the points. The largest bass was still deep and off the bank, feeding on brim and small crappie. While the DT8 caught most, it was the Crush City Minnow that got the bigger ones to bite, that was suspended in ditches.

Was slow rolling the swim bait. Water temp was around 72-74. Good lake has big bass but is private and can only be fished by residents.

Spent a lot of time in a deep water chasing smallmouth and largemouth. Fishing over 50-90' of water and catching suspended bass. Smallmouth were higher in the water column and largemouth were deeper

Fished the BFL Reginal on Dale Hollow the 12th and 13th. Fished day 1 shallow in the back of large creek arms targeting Large Mouth. Caught 1 keeper burning a Strike King thunder Cricket with a 4" caffeine Shad trailer over and around shallow wood. Had several short Largemouth caught also. Finished day 1 on bluff walls catching a few short Largemouth and some nice 17 to 18" smallmouth on a neko rigged Fat baby finesse worm on the same bluffs on big chunk rock. Day 2 started out deep as my boater was live scoping bait balls so spent the morning fan casting a Strike King Sexy dawg trying to call up schooled smallmouth. Was able to get a 1 lbs 12 oz smallmouth to come up and hit it. with an hour left we went to the bluffs where I was able to boat 3 short Largemouth and lost 2 good largemouth on the fat baby finesse worm rigged on the woo tungsten 1/4 oz shaky head. Important note always check your line for nicks constantly as it can and will cost you key fish in a tournament. Ended up 24th out of 160 co-anglers in the tournament.
