Was able to get it done on Bull Shoals Lake for the Arkansas Kayak State Championship. Day one measure for 73 inches, my main bait of the day was the Megabass Super Z-2 and Z-3. Mainly covering water then slowing down and picking apart an area that I caught fish in. My two biggest fish of the event came early in the morning on that crank and were very aggressive and thrashing around. So having a soft rod was so crucial. Then day two was better on paper for me with 77 inches. All but one was on the Picasso Football jig paired with a strike king menace grub. You had to drag the jig to trigger the bite. For areas to fish, I mainly fished channels swings but in the early morning I fished big expansive flats. Very thankful for the win and ready to get after it next year!

We ended up winning our year end championship with a two day total of 30.98lbs and I caught my new personal best bass a 7.83lb Missouri stud. She fell victim to the Clutch Echo and day two we caught all of our fish on a Motion Fishing Prototype Buzzbait that I can’t wait to show everyone. Keep moving down the bank at a fast pace you never knew if the bite would come on the main lake point or in the back of the creek.

We fished the Ozark Mountain Team Trail Championship and ended in 14th. It was a weekend of chasing bait balls with the FFS and a minnow. Found our best bite towards the middle to the backs of creeks in the mid lake area. We could buy a bite after 8am on Topwater so we chased this bite all day long. Only certain areas were holding fishing so cover water until you find them biting.

Day two of the Big Bass Bash. Several fish were caught still out on the points but the wind shifted and so did the shad. Later in the day, flipping brush piles and log jams produced several 2 pound fish but nothing bigger. Shad seemed to have disappeared or at least gone deeper compared to the day before.

Big Bass Bash! Water temps were still in SUMMER ranges and the days were HOT. Blue bird skies and little wind made it tough. Fishing points, the wind seemed to activate the bite. A little bit of everything was working for small fish. Nothing over 2 pounds though.

**Bull Shoals Lake Fishing Report** The conditions at Bull Shoals Lake were perfect for fishing. The water temperature ranged from 72-75°F, with clear water and winds at 5-10 mph. The combination of these factors made for an excellent day on the lake. When fishing along the high banks, Rk Crawlers proved to be incredibly effective. The fish were biting consistently, making for an exciting time. In the back of the creeks, using 6th Sense 3” Whales with 1/8 Owner Ultra Round Heads was the key to success. This setup attracted plenty of fish, keeping the action steady.

Took my BFS rig out to try the Core Orark setup. Took a while to get it to where it wasn’t pulling hydrilla with every cast. I tried several types of worms and very few of the medium to smaller worms could handle the thread through, but you can push them through and tie. I don’t think the conditions were right for it as it was a tough day. Even traditional wacky struggled. I did manage to pick up a green hybrid before switching to wacky which pulled two small bass. The pond is definitely shifting as the panfish are picking up and the bass are spreading out and becoming harder to catch at Stephen’s.

I used the Rapala DT 10 around chunk Rock as a searching bait to cover water in the morning looking for my first 5 keepers that day when I caught a nice bass just over 4 lbs. Great way to start the morning. Caught several more smaller bass as I continued down the shore stretch.

Find the big boulder behind the docks with a slow presentation. Caught several good fish but also lost a really good limit.

First we’re super shallow off main lake channels swings, Bluff ends and small pockets. Bite is super tough so it’s anyone’s game but as always in the fall topwater on LoZ can produce some “Gator” size fish.

Use you favorite jig. The jig I used isn’t listed so the finesse jig works too. I prefer a 1/2 size flipping jig, or a 5/16oz finesse is good.

We were fishing the docks with the jig and then throwing the dt10 in between the docks. Caught around 18lbs with a 5lb kicker which was caught on the dt10. they seemed to be pretty shallow and not really in the brushpiles off the ends of the docks.
