I fished the flap slap after dark on the surface by twitching it and moving the bait slowly like a wake bait. I caught a few largemouth and one four pound smallmouth. There was no wind and the surface was dead calm.

For largemouth on the ST Lawrence I used a chatterbait. Yes I said largemouth, when the smallies mostly win. However I found some off the beaten path stuff in the northern end of the ST Lawrence River that I caught mutiple 5 pounders on.

Caught this 20.5 inch 5 pounder during the 2024 NYKBF State Championships. Skipping a wacky rig under docks and one particular dock was holding A LOT of fish. Had to weed through the smaller ones to get this big ol'girl to bite. She came out and bit just before it hit the bottom. I caught a 19.75 inch Smallmouth under the same dock with the same set up the next morning!

The fall smallmouth and largemouth bite is on. Casting the A-rig onto points has put numerous fish in the boat, just be ready to cover lots of water. Expect it to get even better as the temps continue to cool.

Fishing 0-5 feet put numerous largemouth in the boat. Most fish hit directly off shore in less than 1 foot of water. Anything out deeper would typically smack the spinnerbait as it ticked the grass tops. Be aware though as numerous large muskies would also chase not only the bait but the fish when you caught them.

found largemouth in 12 to 20' where there was a mix or rocks and grass. throwing a heavy drop shot and dragging it similar to a carolina rig put a couple of 4 pounders in the boat along with a bunch of 1.5 to 3 pounders

I fished the north-end of Cayuga Lake focusing on channel swings in 6-10ft of water. The bass were located from the top of the water column to the bottom. I used a hover rig paired with a Berkley Flat Worm to target the suspend bass and I used a Berkley Hit Worm paired with half moon jig to target the bass laying on the bottom.

heavy fog in the morning had fish scattered and no matter what we threw choppo, jerkbait, jigs, etc nothing was biting. once the fog burned off it was full sun no wind and the bass set up on laydowns, docks and moored boats. My best bait was a shorter dropshot on the ends of laydowns. Slow day overall

Ended up fishing a club tournament and found a good pattern with bass chasing schools of bait. Coupled the spinnerbait with the crankbait to generate all my bites!

Caught two nice LM Bass this week at Amawalk Reservoir from the bank. Both were about 2.5 lbs and both fish were caught on the Owner Flashy Swimmer jig with a 3.3 Keitech Fat Swing Impact. Water temps in the mid to high 50s.
