The bass were at the base of the weedline in 17-20 feet of water. I used my Active Target 2 to see areas that held fish. They would not come up for a jerkbait.

The dock bite is good right now on sunny days. Docks with a bit of wind hitting them have been best.

Didn’t have the option for the bait I used but I hammered them on the Googan flat banger. Caught multiple fish on the frittside 5 as well, but ended up breaking all mine off. My brother caught several on a Spinnerbait in a fire tiger/perch type color. Landed in 2nd place with 13.12lbs. Biggest fish was 3.61lbs. Nothing big but a ton of fun. Caught most of them upriver on a rocky bank with a lot of standing trees. Caught a few more including my biggest by the dam on a riprap bank

I went to the lake on October 19th with my tournament partner Iain to get back on the water for the first time since breaking my leg in early September. We fished for about 5 hours from around noon until about 5 PM or so. It was mostly sunny outside with outside temperatures in the mid 80's, and a steady southwest wind at about 10-12 mph. Water clarity on the lake was pretty steady at about 2 feet of visibility. We spent the day throwing chatterbaits and wacky rigs on clumps of submerged vegetation on flats in anywhere from 3-8 feet of water, and were able to catch a decent limit of bass weighing somewhere between 11 and 12 pounds, with a 3.54 pounder I caught on a chatterbait (pictured with the report) being our big fish! South Lake is a great little lake to get on and learn new techniques, or just go cover water and have a good time catching decent numbers of fish anywhere from 1-5 pounds! Good luck on your next trip out, and tight lines!

I fished the lake for 5 days straight from October 23rd to October 27th with my tournament partner Iain for the Team Trail Outdoors TX Championship. Over the course of the 5 days, the lake ranged anywhere from 68-73 degrees and from about half a foot to up to 4 feet of visibility, with the backs of the creeks being cooler and more stained than the main lake was. Over the course of our time there, the weather remained pretty stable, with outside temperatures starting in the low 60's in the mornings and warming up to the mid to high 80's during the daytime, mostly sunny skies (except the final day of the tournament which got very cloudy) and steady southeast winds at 5-15 mph. We spent most of our time targeting fish on flats, secondary points, and under marina dock slips with chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, walking topwaters, crankbaits, jerkbaits, small finesse swimbaits, and drop shots. The fishing was overall pretty tough, but we were able to grind out a 2 day total weight of 15.14 pounds which was good enough for 32nd place in the event out of 121 teams, and helped us lock up a 6th place finish in the Angler of the Year points race out of over 200 of the best teams in Texas. Anchored by our day 1 limit of 10.68 pounds (pictured with the report), we were just a couple bites away from finishing inside the money, but unfortunately trolling motor issues on day 2 took us out of the game. The key was making sure baitfish were present in the areas we were fishing, and then fishing our baits thoroughly and efficiently through the area. Skipping chatterbaits and spinnerbaits into the marina dock slips was our main pattern that did most of our damage. The fishing on Texoma is tough right now, but they still gotta eat, so get out there and wet a line!

Work the rip rap by paralleling your vessel to the rock about 10 yards off and casting to the bank at an angle with a finesse jig and small craw trailer… slow drag in. Bite is very pronounced.

Fish are chasing Shad in several parts of the lake. It seems all about timing for me. My timing hasn’t been great. I’ve been throwing a texas rigged baby brush hog for better results. Isolated brush piles have been best for me. I caught several keepers and one goodun! I was mainly using a Irod fishing rod with an Abu Garcia revo STX spoiled with 16# Shimano Mastiff fluorocarbon line.cast very well and handled an abrasion test for sure. Sorry it’s been so long with a report but I’m just getting back able to fish because of 2 rotator cuff surgeries.

I fished around rocky points near a boat ramp. I got a bite reeling the shakey head in to make another cast. I then started swimming it in and letting it skip across the rocks on the bottom and picked up a few more bites.

Went skipping and flipping in and around brush in shallow water. We threw a few different colors at first but found out all they wanted was something in black and blue. I was getting hit on a wacky rigged worm and shakey head, and my boater was getting hit on a creature style Texas rigged.

Burning cranks down to submerged bridge at Caney Creek and speeding up and slowing down. Striking depth was around 8-10 near the top of the bridge. Biting window was from around 8:30 to 10:30 AM. Caught six or seven total, biggest was 3 1/2. Came back later that day and caught a 2 1/2 first cast.
