Grass = Bass. Locate the thickest, nastiest grass cover in the area and "walk" your frog along the edges and holes within it....and pause it. Strikes will come on the pause and will be vicious. ***This is Frank Jackson Lake ***

I fished Guntersville this weekend mainly focusing on shallow fish. I started off by catching some solid fish by pitching a texas rigged senko on docks and later caught a lot of fish on a grass edge with a chatterbait in 4-6 ft of water. I caught a lot of fish in the 2-4 pound range but no giants. The bite was pretty good.

Water temp - 88 degrees. Lake Jackson is all about two things - grass & bait. If you can locate both, you will find bass. Specifically, these bass were located in 22 to 25 feet of water using a drop shot rig with a finesse worm. The key was to have the bait on the bottom....and keep it there. Slow and methodical was the key.

THIS IS POINT "A" LAKE Water is HOT!!! 92 DEGREE WATER TEMP. As with any summer pattern, things were difficult. Smaller quality fish were caught by swimming a jig in emergent grass along the main river. Essentially, these grass beds provided cover and allowed the fish to stay out of the current and exert very little energy. However, better qualify fish were caught along submerged grass beds in the main lake - but, these grass beds had to be near or even touching the river channel. A stick bait, namely the YUM DINGER, was utilized and was a winner in terms of changing slow, sluggish, lazy bass in their typical summer time pattern. The key was to fish this bait SLOW AND METHODICAL and as CLOSE to the grass beds as possible
