Fishing standing timber with a crankbait has always been one of my favorites. But sometimes you ended up losing a lot of lures. Didn’t catch a ton but caught a few.

This outing we found schools of bass chasing balls of threadfin Shad and crushing top water and shaking a minnow. The fish weren’t related to structure but rather following the bait. So my main baits of choice were a zoom winged fluke and a strike king sexy dawg jr. Mainly trying to mimic Shad. My main thing to keep in mind is to get out as early as possible, the morning bite is crucial especially this time of year. Hopefully this bit of information helps out.

Used the Berkley fusion 1/4 underspin and the kvd soft plastic paddletail. Caught 3 today fishing the grass. 2 lbs 10 oz on this guy and the other 2 were smaller. Wind picked up a few hours in, and it slowed down, they pushed in super shallow when wind got to blowing

When out in the kayak and wore them out on jigs fishing flooded trees/brush in 5 to 12 ft of water. Was able to find a huge concentration of bass on a small stretch of brush. Rotated between a 1/2 and 5/8 oz jig using the Daiwa Tatula Elite Cory Johnston Flipping rod. About every cast you would get bit, you have to weed through little ones for a big bite.

Majority of the fish we found this trip were out on the deep ends of points before the drop off. Threw drop shots all day and wore them out. All of the bigger bass came off the Missile Baits Magic worm in Missile morning. Using a 1/4 oz weight and almost dragging it. Every once in a while give it a few shakes of the rod. Hopefully this helps y’all out.
