My success with a frog was literally zero until I got this Toad Thumper! Walking it with the Cara Amistad along the outside edge of thick vegetation. Boom!

The highlight of the day came when I pitched my lure under a dock, letting it fall right at the edge of the grass line in about 3–4 feet of water. Almost immediately, I felt a strong, deliberate thump and set the hook hard. The fish surged into the grass and wrapped me up for a moment, but steady pressure brought it free. After a spirited fight with a few strong dives under the dock, I brought in a beautiful largemouth bass measuring 19.5 inches and weighing approximately 4 pounds. The fish was healthy and thick — a perfect example of the quality bass that make Lake Rousseau a favorite among Florida anglers. Even in less-than-ideal weather, Lake Rousseau delivered. The combination of heavy rain and cooler temperatures seemed to position the fish tight to cover, and the grass lines along docks proved to be the ticket. Patience, precise casting, and working the bait slow paid off with an excellent catch. Conditions Recap: • Weather: Heavy, steady rain; overcast skies • Water: Slightly stained, calm • Structure: Grass lines along wooden docks • Presentation: Slow and deliberate around pilings and grass edges • Result: One memorable 19.5” (4 lb) largemouth bass, plus a few smaller bites throughout the day

I hit the water under heavy clouds and light, steady rain, targeting eel grass beds known to hold fish this time of year. The air was cool, and the low light gave the water a silvery sheen, with just enough visibility to spot the subtle movement in the grass. After working the area patiently with a slow retrieve, I felt that classic thump and set the hook into a solid fish. The fight was strong but manageable, with the fish diving into the grass and testing my line a few times. After a brief but exciting battle, I landed a healthy 15-inch fish, pulled right from the thick eel grass. It was a rewarding catch given the challenging conditions — proof that overcast, rainy days can still produce quality fish if you stick to your plan and work the structure carefully. Conditions: • Weather: Overcast, light rain • Water: Cool, moderate clarity • Structure: Dense eel grass beds • Technique: Slow retrieve over grass, watching for subtle strikes

Fished in a tournament, got to fish the area outside Goblets Cove along the reeds and open water with a Biobait Enticer worm in watermelon red and got 11 total, biggest was 4.11lbs, pictured with the next biggest. Started fishing the edges of the reeds and pads getting 3 and then just threw out towards the middle of the lake and caught the rest of them along a drop off and a shell bed. Flipped a watermelon red craw some and got broke off and missed a few in the pads and reeds.yum

Water finally high enough to get out. Tried to get into the second cove but floating weeds and hydrilla kept us from getting in, so we got into the first cove after fighting with the hydrilla and got a couple. Fish were at the edges of the floating pads and mats. Biggest was 2.88lbs, pictured. Left and went across the lake and fished the reed line, got a few bites but no luck. Moved out a little bit and fished along the hydrilla edges and got a couple more, pound and a half. Let the wind push us across towards the deep hole and hooked a few but they got off.

Bottom is coated in snot grass and other debris so I started fishing higher in the water column. Ripping the crank bait up and then letting it fall without touching the bottom.
