Water has cooled off but bass still want to be near deeper water. Wacky worms on the deeper side of lily pads worked well. Grandson also caught a bass while bluegill fishing.

Took 4th place in a derb here today. First time at the lake. Lost a giant that would’ve put me in contention, of course. Caught them two ways- froggin’ and dropshot. Roboworm off of edges of milfoil. Spro bronzeye 65 off of the edges of the matted stuff near shore. Fun day!

Took 3rd in a local derb here. Didn’t weigh too much, was a tough bite! Multiple times I’d flip into the grass and they would thump it on the way down, I’d miss them, then have to pitch back in there again to actually hook them. I missed a bunch because they weren’t eating it all the way. My typical grass set up for here, 3/4oz jig, 40lb braid, 7’6” H rod, fast reel. Was super hot, and had a great time! Only thing I’d change is maybe flip around a smaller craw at times.

Alright alright, yea I know, small lake! Doesn’t matter, it’s getting a report! Small but mighty! Caught a ton fishing the pads with a swim jig. Multiple bluegill colors worked best. They would inhale it! 7’3” MHF with high speed reel and 40lb braid. When I ran through all the pads, id back off the bank and drag around a super finesse texas rig with a 1/8oz unpegged weight, 3/0 worm hook, and a net bait T mac worm. It’s a money rig there, and if anyone sees this report, I use it everywhere to get bit. Sometimes I even go with a 3-4” worm. Sleeper rig I think. 7’0 MXF spinning rod, 10lb braid to 10lb fluoro leader. If anyone sees this and is around this area, make a trip here. Catch a lot of 2lbers, but theres some big ones in there. I’ve caught em. Good times! Fish on!

Being able to find where the weed lines stop past the shallow flats is the ticket during these dog days of summer. Caught them on my bluegill jackhammer and some finesse/compact jigs.

Was tough cycling thru crank baits, top water, underspin, tube, etc. But then I hit just the right weed edge and submerged isolated cover and they couldn’t say no! Football head got caught in a lot of grass so a round ball head finesse jig may be in my future but still worked great!

Fishes were eating craw fish and bluegill. Water quality was the key today. Thee of five fishes had Pike's bite mark today.

Caught a bunch of decent bass, most were 1-2lb, at the grass edges. Found some spots where the grass was dense and growing almost to the surface so it was super visible from the kayak. Threw a Texas rigged senko along the visible edge and bass would hit closer to the bottom. Was primarily in around 8ft of water.

Flipped around and found out that there was a 4 pounder sitting under a floating grass clump and beside a fallen tree. A custom made jig 1/2 GP with a strike king rage chunk was the ticket.
