The water has been super warm. Warmer than I can ever remember so the fishing has been a little slow but they will bite when you get around them. This week most of the action came on a Cast Again Tackle Hammer swim jig in black/blue with a Little Dipper trailer. Some fish were also caught on a spook. The key to finding fish was finding bait in the grass and fishing the grass until you found the pack of large mouth. Fish are very scooped up and still relatively shallow in 3-5’. The day was hot and blue bird skies, but once the clouds rolled in with a little bit of wind, I decided to throw the 6in magdraft and it paid off. The bigger bites were sitting in 9-11ft of water in submersed grass.

They sprayed out there recently so it was hard to find good coontail but they were setup around dropoffs with lily pads and coontail setting off of the edge of the lily’s in 7 feet of water and the bass would sit on the edge of the lily’s with coontail to deeper water, they werent very schooled up out there yet so you’d just catch 1-3 bass in an area

It was hot so the fish were next to docks, in shade and or thick weeds. Casting and letting the worm sink was key to getting bites as they really seemed to only want it on the bottom.

By lily pads and reeds, fairly shallow water, cast towards the weed line and retrieve, not exact lure but its as close to the one I used, I used an arbogast hula popper with an orange belly and yellow and white skirt/trail, it was 1 1/2”

We missed on a mid 30's pike about an hour after launching, but 15 minutes later my Grandson got this MONSTER BASS! shown in the pic We were throwing chatterbaits over the top of submerged vegetation that was on a drop off outside of reeds in a shallow area. We could see fish emerge from the thick vegetation and follow our lures. It was a very fun day in the boat with my Grandson.

17 lbs on a Wed nighter. Water temps over 80 during a long heat wave, searched around some points and flats for over an hour with no bites, found a suttle rise that got a bit on the first cast. Ended up spot locking for 2 and culling out 3 lb fish.

I hit the lake early morning, it was calm and still. The perfect conditions for topwater action. I caught several bass up to 17", then the 18" shown in the video SMACKED my whopper plopper and ran for the bottom, got tangled in weeds and I had a ton of fun getting it to the surface and in the net.

I haven't fished the lake in a few years but wanted to try again with upgraded electronics. I was surprised to see that sunfish were still bedding, as that had finished at Lake Harriet a few weeks ago. I fished from 8am-11am and mainly used a swim jig(PD Chopper) and Spark Shad casting at points/weedlines. I caught multiple pike and the big bass of the day on it(20inch/4.5lb). I also used a drop shot and bellow gills and was able to catch a 18.5inch and 15inch in the same spot, before being broken off by a pike.

Mid morning, after the sun came up, started targeting weedlines that were still covered in shade. Water was super hot, slick calm, anything that had a combination of vegetation, any stretch that was all the same yielded few if any bites.

Bass were crushing wacky rigs and drop shots on weed edges. Largest of the day was 4.25lbs. Also caught some fish on swim jigs and weightless flukes.
