Docks on Platte are back to being a thing in 2025. I struggled to get anything off of them last year. This year I’m having some success most of the time I have given them a try. As you can see from the picture it was a sunny day.

Hump day produced several fish out of clumps of submerged vegetation in 4-8 feet of water. Throwing a weedless neko, rigged for maximum spiral effect. It has produced all summer.

We worked the break lanes pre-fishing for a tournament in 8’ to 16’. I caught fish from one to three pounds on various Jackhammers. Lots of dead water and more high percentage spots where we didn’t get bit. A mix of weeds seemed to help, but wasn’t a sure thing. Plenty of pike so I recommend using a leader to protect your lure from getting bit off.

Caught fishing on the flats in 8-15 FoW. Snapping a jig through grass and a neko rig worked best. Picked a few up on a main lake point using a shakeyhead but not much size on those fish. Finished the day flipping docks with the jig again and picked up a few of my better fish. Biggest was 3.56. Up here on vacation and haven’t quite figured out where the big ones are. Catching a ton of fish in the 12-15 inch range, but only a handful north of 3 pounds.

They wanted the ToadZ burning across the surface this morning. I got one bass that was over 4lbs and three that were over 3lbs. They just crushed it. If you have water temp above 70, give burning a toad a try. I also got a few pike and I think missed a Bowfin

It was hot, fish were moderately active with most bites coming from throwing a frog into shallow reeds and lily pads. Some bass were also catching some shade under the docks and picked up a jig a few times.
