China Lake Summer Largemouth Fishing

What's up everybody? This is Omnia Fishing's Current Conditions Report. My name's Cameron and I'm going to tell you how to catch large mouth bass in the summer on China Lake. In the summer, we're going to be targeting deep submerged grass in that 8 to 12 foot range and the reason we're doing that is because the water temp has come up so high in the shallows that it's just uncomfortable for the fish to be there and those large mouth like to move offshore just a little bit and kind of run that grass edge. So that's where we're going to target these large mouth bass. There's two techniques that I use when I'm looking for large mouth bass offshore in the summer. First technique, pitching jig. So this is a half-ounce, dirty jigs, tour-level pitching jig with a Yamamoto mini flap and hog trailer. I love throwing this when the grass is a little thinner, offshore points with grass obviously and following kind of that edge. If I need or if I see and find the fish deeper in there, what I'm going to do is I'm going to switch to a Texas rig and I'm going to throw the Zoom Z-Craw, 5/0 EWG, half-ounce slip weight, pegged 30-pound braid. I'm throwing all of that. Both techniques on this Dobbins Champion XP 734C paired up with SLX DC 7.1 to 1, 7.2 to 1 gear ratio 30-pound braid no leader.
