Cobbosseecontee Lake Summer Largemouth Fishing

What's up everybody, this is Omnia Fishing's Current Conditions Report. I'm Cameron and today I'm going to tell you how to catch large mouth bass in the summer on Cobbosseecontee Lake. In the summer on Cobbosseecontee Lake, the water temp gets really hot. So those fish start to move deep. What we're looking for is we're looking for humps, offshore humps with vegetation or rocks. So what we usually do is look in the contour map. We're looking for the 15 to 25 foot range and then we want to find a hump that has a pretty good drop off on either side of it with vegetation. So it does take a little bit of side scanning or forward-facing sonar to check to see what the vegetation is like on these humps. And not all humps are created equal. That said, I've had my best luck in the 15 to 20 foot range looking for humps that have either rocks, lone boulders or some sort of vegetative grass that comes up 3 to 4 feet. Also merged but there's some sort of cover down there. There are two techniques that I use when I'm fishing for these offshore bass. If I'm fishing around wood or rocks, I instantly go to this jig. This is the Dirty Jigs, Pitchin' Jig, 1/2 ounce with the Yamamoto Mini Flappin' Hog trailer. I absolutely love fishing this bait. It's a really phenomenal all-around bait. If I'm fishing a lot of thicker grass vegetation, I'll throw a Missile Bates D- bomb. Texas Rigged, 5/0 EWG, 1/2 ounce flipping weight, pegged 30 pound braid for both . The rods are a little different. So my Texas Rig Rod, Dobbins Champion Extreme, HP 746, Mag Heavy, Fast, Shimano Scorpion DC, 30 pound braid, 7.2 to 1 gear ratio. This is a stout Texas Rig Rod. I can set the hook in 30 feet of water and not question this rod. Now on the jig side, I like my rods a little bit softer. So this is a Champion XP 734 by Dobbins. Paired up with the Shimano SLX DC, 30 pound braid, 7.2 to 1 gear ratio. There's a theme here. The Champion XP, this rod is phenomenal. It has a really good amount of tip. Still got a strong backboat and I know that those fish are going to stay pegged . That is how I catch large mouth bass in the summer on Cobbosseecontee Lake.
