Ladies and gentlemen, this is Just Landed. And this Just Landed is a pretty cool one from Lew's. This is the BB1 Pro Speed Spool.

This is the latest version of the BB1. This is a new version of it. We have had a couple models in here, a few at a time, trickle in, but we finally got a big load in from Lew's, so we're ready to talk about them in a big way now.

We have three different gear ratios in the sixes, the sevens and the eights. This reel is a real big improvement, in my opinion, from the outset. Just looking at it from the previous model, being that it does feel a lot lighter and it still held onto its solid feeling.

Really smooth gearing, oversized handle on it. I believe this is a 95 mil, if not 100 millimeter handle.

They upgraded the pinion in these to the P two pinion gear. So it's a bearing supported pinion gear, like a lot of the high end Japanese reels. So this reel has a really solid feel to it.

The idea behind the BB One family is that those chunk and wind presentations crankbait, fishing, throwing, swim baits, spinner baits, anytime you're casting and retrieving your lure, these are meant for long distance casting. If you see there's a larger amount of distance between the spool and the line guide than there is on a traditional Lew's bait caster or a lot of bait casters that are really shrinking up the size, that distance between the spool and the line guide allows it to get a lot more momentum. The line coming off the spool, less friction, and it actually cast really far.

You can tell when you play with this reel just in hand that this thing's a chucker. There's a lot of mass to this spool and it will keep spinning like crazy. It almost feels like when you put higher end ball bearings in a traditionally overbraked bait caster nowadays, it really spins.

Kind of like an old school bait caster did a lot better. The brake is adjustable on the exterior of the reel, which I love because this is a centrifugal brake reel, which means it's got the little pins in it to give friction from centrifugal force. They spread out and that's what slows the reel down.

It's not a magnetic brake. Those centrifugal brakes tend to be a long distance casting winners. But I love when you get a reel manufacturer that allows you to adjust those brakes from the exterior of the reel so I don't have to open the side plate up here, take the side plate off to adjust pins or anything like that.

You just turn the dial on the side and go. These also feature their hook keeper that Lew's has on the I think they call it the speed hook keeper or something like that, that you pop it in and out from inside the gearbox there. So instead of hooking your lures to the top of your reel, or if you got a hook keeper on your rod, that tends to get all your baits tangled up into other things in the rod locker, you can actually hook your baits to the reel here on that little hook keeper there.

The BB1s are in stock in a big way. We got a whole bunch of them. I'm such a fan of this thing so far.

Actually, I already got myself one. I've talked about this a bunch in other videos. I think a lot of us that throw moving baits are starting to speed up a little bit.

It was always kind of traditional to throw crank baits and moving baits at those low gear ratios, like five one to one. I'm starting to throw them with a little bit faster reels. Now that we're using our trolling motors and covering a lot of water, I think I can slow down enough with 7.5:1.

I'm going to try it with one of these. So if you're into crank bait fishing, doing any sort of power fishing techniques, chunking and whinding, you might want to check out the new BB1 Pro from Lew's.
