Alright, alright, that was great on the board. Back to back spots, Jeff, look at that muskie, a great looking fish. Huh? What a fun deal, Jeff and I are on a musky mission on our favorite place to fish. Northwest Ontario sunset country beautiful spot. We're on like a goon staying at Merkel's camp and water gun is an amazing fishery. Yes, yes. No. Home to some of the biggest fish in all of the world.

Huh. And it has a very high density muskie population. So Jeff and I are exploring looking at the waters of water gun and hopefully we catch a bunch of fish like this. There we go. Hey, aren't they beautiful? I think these water gun fish are some of the most beautiful muskie's in Ontario. Absolutely gorgeous. This dark water is such a thrill to fish because they just ambush it. They come out of nowhere.

So I think we're gonna fish some shallow slop and hopefully put a lot of these in the boat and hopefully this is the smallest one. We get, get her back. Great. In all my years of muskie fishing, this is actually the first time I've been to a lagoon and it is super interesting. The one thing I didn't expect her tried to explain to me like it's dark water like it is dark water. I got a bright orange blade on here and I know I lose sight of it at 18 inches. We're probably getting followed and you just can't see them. So it's really important to stay alert. Do that figure eight at the end of your cast.

But I'll tell you what it is. Pretty exciting, jerry described it as a little bit like night fishing. I would totally agree. It's taken me a while to adapt to it, but it's really, really fun to fish these weed beds in this, in this dark water. Super cool. Experience. Something.

Oh, Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh, nice. Oh man. That was awesome. Uh, that was fantastic. He wanted that thing going so fast. We were just saying boy, it would be fun to get one to follow and then he got a figure eight. I could not move that bait fast enough. That was so fun. So, so fun. Hey there mister Hey, got 1 to the bucket. I love it. You know, the thing about up here is, it's so fun. Is that most days if you look around, it's like bluebird skies, not a lot of wind. You just got, oh, we got a musky fish today. It's going to be a grind. We'll get a window in the morning in the afternoon on water lagoon. You want calm and sunny because they bite. That was just great.

Alright, Jeff, we'll slide this one forward and we'll get them off. We're off to a good day. We haven't been fishing very long and we've been doing some catching, huh? Jeffrey look at that, those beautiful lagoon leopards. They just love them. They're so darn pretty. I think these are some of the prettiest fish in Ontario. The system is so fertile. There's lots of them and they grow big, the longest muskie have ever hooked. It's just about 100 yards down that way. So this is a good place to be. Let's let this go and go, alright, see dude fishing this dirty water is really different and begun is different than pretty much anywhere you fish, I can almost promise you.

And one of the things I find to be a lot more helpful and productive is to avoid some of the things that you do in Clearwater. So number one is don't make super long cast when you're fishing around this heavy cover. We tend to get the boat closer to the cover and make shorter casts are more accurate. So the cover is dense, The water is dirty. The strike zone is so much more limited that it really does pay to make these short accurate casts. And then the second thing is just go slow, pick your way through. And when I'm talking about fishing slow, I don't mean that you have to fish your baits extremely slow. I mean, and keep the boat moving slow that you, so you can make a lot of casts in the key areas.

Oh man, you see that one come up and grab it. That was awesome, wow, missed it just rolled on it. That was cool. You might get him, came up. Got him, got him, boy, Jeff, sweet.

Hey, that's a nice northern Jeff, Congratulations, You're on the board fish. That's the thing about this lake is, there are a lot of nice Jackson here, right there. Nice Jack. Huh? Cool. Oh, did you see that one? Here we go. Here we go. Come up on it. Here she is. Your ship is still on it. Got him, Yeah, that was cool. Huh? That was great boy.

It's so cool about. This is when you get into figure eight, you cannot move it fast enough for these fish. You would think that in this dirty water it be slow, slow, slow. But if you slow down they say no, no, no. What's fun about today is we've just really been looking at new stuff. Just exploring, exploring, exploring, and catching muskie's loving life, baby Gosh! That's a gorgeous fish is so stinking, pretty in here and I'll share with you after I let this one go.

What we've got on the deck for baits for fishing this dirty water on water lagoon. It's pretty much the same stuff you've got on board, but it's the rods and reels to have on deck for fishing this kind of water. Thank you. You're on Jeffrey. Absolutely just released one. Unbelievable. Crazy. Oh, so it is exactly right in the middle of the major, right now. Middle of the major muskie's just like that. Never been to this spot, Jeffrey Bang Bang. That's hilarious. I'm sitting here is up there messing with his fish. So I'm waiting for him. The spot lock. So I'm just fiddling around and flipping around, bam, hit another muskie right in the major. That was so cool. You don't do that very often. But you know what, that's one thing to be said about muskie's, everybody thinks. So you get a muskie, that's the only one there. I'm telling you there's where there's one, there's often a couple, you know, beautiful fish. Yeah, that's so cool.

You know, Jer and I are just going around. This is amazing. We're from Minnesota. So we know the spots, we fish on those lakes and put this girl back. So we have our little milk run of spots. We come up here. She goes, we come up here, it is a playground. You came right to the surface. Give him that was so cool. I got the shakes a little bit. I'm not gonna lie. It wasn't even a big one. You know, jerry and I are looking around like that looks good over there. That looks good over there. I just look at that boil. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just missed him. Stay with him. Got him, got him, that was awesome. Oh, I lost him. But it wasn't that cool as all get out was like, bang bang bang. He wanted a new spot. I mean that's what's so great about fishing up here is everywhere. You look, it looks like a good spot to fish. We're just going and looking and fishing spots that look good and it's working.

So when it comes to what we've got on the deck, you know, muskie fishing if you're into it, what's awesome is the equipment has become specialized, much like it has for fishing for bass or walleye, you've got certain powers and actions of rods that work for very specific presentation. So, on the deck of the boat. Now granted I'm into musky fishing, but I almost always have four or five different rod and reel combos on the, so right now I've got one on board for throwing big buck tails. It's first of august, so big buck tails are a big deal. I've got a rod in here that dive and rise deal is incredible. So, I've got a rod for fishing Su X. And then I've got a small, this is one of my favorite rods ever I've got for throwing little buck tails. This is St. Croix's downsize er and then I also have a rod set up for top water and this rod I kinda want to talk to you about specifically, which is pretty cool.

This is St. Croix's new Legend tournament and look at the handle on that, it's the grass panel. So they designed this so that the fatigue of muskie fishing doesn't get to you, especially when pulling and this is a really great, especially for the guys that don't change hands in the casting, you never really have to let your hand leave. So you've got three fingers down, taking all of that torque and then the rest up so you're putting the torque not on your wrist like this, it's just straight on so it helps with the torque.

And then they redesigned the material in here. So this rod is like as light as their legend elite, it's actually very very very light. So an incredible rod for this type of deal. The nine ft, medium heavy fast is kind of my go to for a lot of these applications but I will mix it up. Heavy stuff is not coming down nice fish, Jeff kind of like that. Cool, beautiful wa Begoun bass here, they've got a cool thing going on in the lake where they've got a number of fish tag and the goal is in the next few years to have $100,000 worth of tag fish swimming around in water gun lake. So if you buy a ticket you get one of these fish, they're worth a whole bunch of money and right now we're going to tag one of them right here, put a tag in this so if you come up and visit this place, you've got a chance to win a bunch of money by catching this fish right here.

Alright, I'm gonna get a tag in it quick. Here we go. This bass is going back into water gun for somebody to catch with a bunch of money and off you go. Mr smallmouth just being here in sunset country. Pretty much makes you good fisherman got him. Got him nice. Oh, nice one, Jeff, awesome. Yeah. Sweet up the rock baby.

But I am telling you that electronics help you catch way more and bigger fish. That's just the facts. So awesome boy, it's kind of a cold front day. They're fighting wind, fighting rain and that's musky fishing. You got, you got your highs and your lows, you keep each other up and keep grinding it out and catch a fish like that. Who? There we go. Mr smith. Yes, yeah, another muskie, they're so pretty. Look at the green, I mean that color is just amazing, beautiful.

Now this boat is loaded with all of the sweet electronics that are available from hummingbird. It's got 3 60 side imaging down imaging. It's got mega live, it's got a great map on it. So it really has all that technology but there's really two technologies up here, aside from mapping. I'm talking sonar technologies that are really amazing and that side imaging and live and I'm sure a lot of people have heard of live which is forward facing sonar and a lot of people in muskie fishing use it to catch fish but I'm telling you the most valuable aspect of it for fishing. The shield water is knowing how spots are laid out, especially on a lake like water lagoon or even the lake of the woods and parts of eagle, the water can be really dirty and I can't tell you how many times over the years I've been looking at a spot I'm casting over here and all of a sudden my trolling motor grinds up on the rocks because you don't know Know how the spots are laid out.

But with live now we can get a good feel for exactly how everything's laid out. So you're fishing spots like you would have experience of 50 years of fishing spot because you can look in front of you now I've got it on the trolling motor and I can just scan. So I know where the weed line is. I know if there's a big rock off to the side. So this technology to me is the most revolutionary thing ever to come along and shield fishing just simply for understanding the structure. Way better.

Got one. Got 1. Nice one. Got him nice. Oh, nice one, Jeff, awesome. Yeah. Sweet up the rock baby. But I am telling you that electronics help you catch way more and bigger fish. That's just the facts.

The biker must, it's a musky, good boy Jeff. Oh, alright, maybe bring him over. Can you bring him over to the other side, yep. This camera, he wanted to go that way. First went with him a bad musky chair. Every muskie is a good musky Yeah, nice, that's a nice thick one.

We've got a lot of fish about this size, but they're just thick, they're thick and we're fishing hard and they're still fun to catch. You know, you get bit by these fish, awesome, awesome fish and that one came on the cast, which is always a bonus. I like this figure eights but I'll take these two still counts as one right there. That's right. It does absolutely cool. I'm gonna go Jeffrey.

One thing I've noticed just a while ago, the first bait through was absolutely positively what they, what they went for. That was the deal. And now Jeff has been in the back and he has had all the action today. I haven't even had a follow and you've had a pile of bites. So I'm gonna take a hit and go to a little bit darker, darker blades, black and nickel.

So for the reel I'm using for this style was pro rex. This is a real, that was made specifically for muskie fishing. We're throwing blades and a lot of people like fishing slower gears for blades, but they make this in a 51 and a 71 and an 81 and I really like the 71 for this style. I feel like the big cranking handle that it's got on here gives you enough torque that you can get away with a higher gear and also still have the pulling power.

But one, the thing that I will say is that sometimes with these higher speed reels, you do have to watch your speed, you can end up just burning the bait way too fast. So you have to slow yourself down. But the other advantage to this, I feel too with a little bit fast. Your gear is that when you hook fish, it's a lot easier to stay tight on them if they come running at you, you just have to make a couple cranks of the handle and boom, you're on top of the fish.

And then the line I've got on here is something pro mix braid and you might just think, oh, braid is braided. But one thing you really, really want to look out for in musky fishing to save yourself some money is a braid that has a ton of shock strength. So this pro mixed braid has a ton of that. You're not going to backlash and lose baits and that can be of course very expensive. And I've had different lines over the years that if you backlash, see you later. But this pro mix has got tremendous shock strength and we never end up losing baits with it.

Oh, there's one got him, got him, got him, that was awesome. We're 50 yards away from the other spot here. Yeah, I don't need a net on this one, Jeff. It's fine. I'm gonna pop this one off. Isn't that a beautiful, beautiful fish? Literally Jeff just caught that fish and it's about two seconds later I got one. I just change colors from orange and brown to black and silver. The classic muskie bait bingo. Got another one. This is action packed.

It's one thing I'll say about water lagoon, there's a lot of fisheries in Canada where you can catch some pretty big muskie's. But wow Begoun has both numbers and size. It's actually got quite the high density. So it's pretty, pretty cool spot. This isn't a big one. So I think I'm just gonna try to reach down and pop them off and try to get us a bigger fish here. Look at that tool, isn't that great? I got a hold of them there like that and musky begun if you're a muskie fisherman, this is absolutely the most amazing tool to have on board. That bubba hook extractor. Unbelievable. So good. Got him. Big one. Oh gosh, alright, I thought it was bigger, but that's a great fish, jeffy.

All right, sunshine on wa Begoun equals big muskie's. All right middle of the day boy, when they open their mouth, you just can't help but think that their giant. Alright, Hey Geoffrey, that was really cool. He just pounded it. Oh, you see their mouth open and you just think you can't help but say big one. Big one. Big one when you see a big musky mouth open up. It is something special.

So we fished this spot, we came in from the backside here and our baits cast over it. But we, we came around the structure and fished it from a different angle and this fish bit, you know if you have confidence in the spot fishing a few different ways because can pay off to do so well, that's actually a really nice one. That's a really nice one. Let's see what we're dealing with here, wait till you see the size of this fish, It's a Canadian giant, Oh man, I can get a hold of this baby, holy cow, she's a big one and it is beautiful, holy cow, Alright, huh. That is an absolutely fantastic fish Jeff and I have been loving life up on water lagoon here. It's an amazing fishery. It's overlooked years ago people came from all over to catch fish like this, I'm telling you they're back, it's an amazing multi species fishery with some giant muskie's in it and other critters too.
