Paddled to the mouth of Willow Creek and finally landed a spotted bass that follows the rules. (Bass Lake in California is a tough place to fish-infuriating at times.) I stuck to the Zoom fluke but changed colors and the payoff was near instant. I had to cut the outing short but plan to return at dusk this evening.

I fished several spots along the shore of Bass Lake on foot and by kayak. Being a deep reservoir, it was tough to fish this way. I ended up getting a huge bass to commit to the glide, but it snapped me off. I then went up to an inflow waterfall at the top of the lake, where I saw many large bass in the current and managed to catch one.
