Had a fun day putting a flat-side in my hand and going down some rip-rap. They were right on the bank.

I was fishing in 25 mph wind with 30/35 mph gusts with crazy white caps and caught the heck out of them with a white spinner bait with two small willow blades(I had previously added a trailer hook which got most of my short strikes). Just winding it at a medium to slow pace above dead grass and bouncing it off of wood occasionally, I only fished in a little tiny pocket( only a 50/75 yard circle) but if I hadn’t caught one in five minutes I’d stick with it and keep the same area and ended up pulling out a couple more.

Man it was a really tough day out on the water but just ended up grinding through it and it payed off, only thing that I could get bit on was a blade bait. I was yo yoing it up at a moderate to slow lift and then I’d let it flutter down all the way. A tip that I used to make sure I was getting my blade bait as close to the bottom as I could was to get in around 10 foot of water(doesn’t have to be ten it’s just what I was in) and count the blade bait as it’d go down till it hit the bottom so a 3/8 oz Rapala v rap took about 5 or 6 seconds to flutter down so I’d make sure not to be ripping it up too fast. The blade bait was working the best with a little breeze going. The blade bait was easier to cover water faster than a jerk bait and easier to keep a good slow cadence than a jerk bait as well. Especially if your having a hard time slowing down! Go try it out and catch some winter fish!
