Struggled a bit finding bass over the weekend, ended up catching 6 as a group. We stuck to the north side of the lake and seemed to have the best luck in deeper ledges.

During the springtime the bass start to move up shallow to the 10 foot and shallower depth range. They begin to feast getting ready for their spawn. A chatter bait through the grass patches is a great way to catch these bass. They get to be longer round than length. Fishing can be non stop this time of year.

This bait was pegged and texas rigged with a titan tungsten 3/8 sinker. Flipping in 10-15ft on a rock pile break in the weed line. Caugh a 5lb 4lb 3lb and a 2lb bass in 4 consecutive casts by letting the bait hit the bottom then dead sticking it for a couple minutes. Then I would hope it up and swim it for a bit with a slow sweeping motion like a Carolina rig. Then repeat that.

Isolated mixed vegetation was the ticket. Transition points in the different types would hold fish. Usually all in the same weight class. If your catch 2-3 pounders and want 4-5 pounders then you need to move. They are not far from each other but are definitely grouped by size. Normal school size is 5-10 fish.

Drop shot in 8’-15’ of water where isolated grass clumps were next to bluegill beds. Drop shot length approx 12”-15”
