Fish were not interested in holding onto everything. I caught fish on Senko 6" in Junebug and Smoke and had quite a few bites where I missed the fish. They were positioned next to standing timber and under over hangs. Follow the links for videos of the fish catches. Winter striped bass love to stack up around bridge pilings where current creates natural ambush points. A 6th Sense jerkbait is an excellent choice for targeting these fish. Make long casts parallel to the pilings, let the bait dive to depth, then work it with a sharp jerk-jerk-pause cadence. In cold water, the pause is often the key—many strikes come while the bait is sitting motionless. Focus on the up-current side of the pilings and any areas with baitfish activity. Slow, deliberate retrieves can trigger aggressive reaction bites from even the most lethargic stripers. When the water is cold, patience and precise presentations around bridge structure can produce some unforgettable winter striped bass action.
