It was an odd day some smallmouth were still on beds, but it was definitely a post spawn pattern. The bass were feeding on minnows and busting the surface for what’s left of the mayflies. Definitely had to wok the spook slow and they would hit it on the pause.

Throwing a duo spy bait was the deal. Target flats coming out off points if there's some ripple on the water

Fish weren't on humps yet. Fish were shallower than expected for July. Had good luck in 8 ft of water and also on shallower cribs.

The rocky ledges are hot where there is weed patches . 8-12 feet of water

Fishing a tube in the summer is a staple for Smallmouth. I like to fish it in the 5-20ft range in places that have a mix of bottom composition - a sand, rock and weed mix is best. You can drift with a tube, cast and drag or cast and aggressively hop it back (cracking a tube). Smallmouth are generally active in the summer - keep moving until you start to run into them. When you can one slow way down as there are usually more than one in an area.

The bite was on . Mainly 8’ of water and under for the bigger bites . Tubes and drop shots . (Kvd dream shots ) fish were also on cribs up to 25’ but no size to them . Dead sticking g a ned rig will get tons of bites this time of year as well
