Effective April 14 thru May 13, Folsom Lake is closed to all motorized boats, due to mitigation efforts to irradicate the spread of Golden Mussels. In addition, after May 13th, all motorized boats have to be inspected and prove a 30 day quarantine (dry docked) before it can launch on the lake. Scan the QR code in the picture for details.

I spend most of my time on the North Fork when I'm on Folsom. But today I decided to try my luck on the South Fork. I wanted to see if the South Fork Spots like this Outkast Chicken Nugget as much as the North Fork Spots....and it turns out they do! Although, instead of hanging on the ledges on the North Fork, they were holding over submerged rock piles off shore in about 10-20 feet of water. Just cruise around until you find a submerged rock pile. Then just slowly circle it from as far away as you can and still cast over the top, retrieving slow and steady with some minor twitches and you can coax them to bite. I think they keep wanting to get on the shoreline for the spawn...but the weather is just not cooperating. They'll be there soon.... And by the way....have you bought one of these Lew's Custom Pro reels yet...They're amazing!

Seemed like the storm front that ripped through the area this last Friday may have pushed the bass off shore and into some deeper water. So different than just a week ago when there were so many fish in the shallows. I was only out for a couple hours in the evening and was able to coax a few hits on the Strike King Game Hawg in the trusty Blue Craw pattern. We found them in 15-18 feet of water off of points and submerged rock piles. Even in heavily pressured Folsom Lake, they have a hard time staying of that bait.
