Vertically jigging the main lake between King Mill and Herrington Marina yielded a successful crappie fishing experience. The majority of the caught crappie were between 10 and 13 inches in length. The water clarity was optimal, with 2 to 4 feet of visibility. Various colors appeared to be effective on 1/16th-ounce jig heads. The Zman Ultimate Ned Head rod provided the necessary sensitivity to detect even the slightest bites. A long 20-foot fluorocarbon leader was connected to the XBraid. On shallower cover, a small swim bait tight lining technique proved effective in attracting additional bites. Additionally, we observed spotted bass in the same areas and caught approximately 10 of them in the 11 to 16 inch range using the same techniques early in the morning.
