TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureStanding TimberTarget flooded trees as many of the smallmouth were hugging tight to them. Many Smallmouth were post spawn or still spawning. Pitch the dropshot or ned rig as close at you can to the trees. Many times they will eat it on the fall or shortly after it hits the bottom.

TechniqueNed RigsSeasonSummerStructureBouldersFor the most part, the ned rig (Berkley half head w/ Maxscent Lil' Trooper or TRD) did the heavy lifting. That half head is the ticket for avoiding being stuck in the rocks permanently. Being in a kayak also helps maneuver it out of any cracks. Neko rig (Trokar TK137 w/ VMC Crossover Ring and a Maxscent General) snagged a few. DT8 and a Storm Largo shad rigged on a VMC Hybrid Jighead caught a few more. Big fish of the day came on a mid-depth crankbait cast shallow and worked deep along one of the dams as it got toward evening. Fish were relating to rock transitions, points, and dropoffs. A lot of fish were extremely shallow, but a few came out in 10' max depth. As usual, the Ketch Karbonate gets my vote for tournament measuring or just bragging rights.
