Had a short day on the water today, but that didn't stop me from putting some weight in the boat. August is a interesting time to fish at Kent lake and the transitions were plentiful for the short time I was out there. I fished the west side of the lake today. In the morning I opted for a bladed swim jig and had some success before getting bit off by a pike (of course that was my last one in green pumpkin). As we transitioned into the late morning around 9AM I decided to rotate between a weighted wacky rig and a drop shot. The key to finding the fish in the morning was looking for the baitfish schools. Once you found the schools the bass are not very far behind. As the time went by I fished mainly deeper (13-15ft) or under shade. I found the fish were hanging out on the drop-offs from points in the grass, so I would also recommend using something like a texas rigged creature bait at that point.
