Cypress trees are a popular spawning habitat for bass. Tie on a 4-5” Wacky Rig and target the trees on shallow flats and sheltered pockets. You can’t cast too shallow! The fish in the picture was in the slack water behind an old cypress tree. The water was about 10-12 inches deep

This time of year below the dam you can catch them off of laydowns if there is enough water on them. I know the water levels change frequently. When it gets low I like to get the medium to shallow diving crankbaits out and crank around whatever cover or current breaks I can find.
