First time fishing Lake Carey open water. First hour bite was a topwater frenzy, once the sun got up it was a flipping grass and pads day. Pounded the bass all day until 2 pm when I had to quit. Water was pretty stained on the small part of the lake due to carp spawn but big part of the lake was relatively clear. A few smaller smallmouth but no giants that I know are in there. When the water warms up a little more for better bed fishing I'll be back!
