We took our kayaks out to target perch and it took a while to find them, but before we figured them out I ran into a spot that looked promising for bass. I had a small crankbait on and tossed it toward some rocks and, sure enough, a 19 inch bronzeback smashed it. I caught two more slightly smaller before joining my buddy on a school of "eater" sized perch. The blade bait, tipped with Crappie Nibbles, worked great on the perch and pudgy trout.

Intense sun and warm weather had the fish shallow early and then migrating deep as the sun peaked. I found the greatest numbers in a weedbed as well as a Largemouth Bass. I tipped by lures with red maggots.
