Largemouth Bass
TechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureDocksbass were in pre spawn mode on the outer third of points on or near docks with access to deeper water. Most fish were in the 7-12' depth and deeper docks were more productive

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureBouldersWhen I located smallmouth on beds they couldn’t resist a drop shot with a chartreuse bait. We found most beds along pieces of rock and wood on sand flats.

TechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureBouldersWith the smallmouth transitioning through the spawning stage, they can be targeted effectively by casting jerkbaits along sand flats making casts specifically at large boulders and wood that can be seen by the eye or with forward facing sonar.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureBaitfishWorking a deep diving Jerkbait with quick twitches, switching up the cadence often but majority of bites came on the pause. Suspended fish working 5-15 FOW around the bridges and piping’s. Definitely had little bite windows when I’d get bit cast after cast. But they are definitely chasing and fat, healthy fishing moving into the shallow bays. After about 20-30 minutes of not getting but I occasionally got bit on a ned rig in the same areas. Bridge near Norowal Marina

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRock PileThe Shadow Rap Deep Jerkbait in Ghost Shiner color was the ticket to a successful day on Lake George, NY. Largemouth, Smallmouth, and a Lake Trout were caught in 58-60 degree water temperature with a slight breeze from the Southeast. The most consistent bite pattern came from casting the jerkbait outside shallow water markers towards the main lake in 12-15 fow and near points from the main lake to the bays. Look for rock flats and boulders near drop offs and cast from shallow to deep for a bigger Bass bite. Smaller Black bass were caught in 4-6 fow using a Charlie Brewer Slider Grub with 1/8 oz Keitech tungsten jig head.

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureHumpsStarted on deep humps 15 -25’ and caught a bunch of smallmouth on a drop shot and hair jig including a couple of 4 pounders. Moved to the front 1/3 of points near spawn areas with good drop offs and caught small and largemouths on a Yo-Zuri jerkbait in elegy bone. Then we moved to the back of some bays and flipped up a bunch of small male largemouth on both finesse and regular jigs. Great day overall with over 50 fish but only a few nice ones
