The chain had a lot of pressure dealing with the high school state championship tournament as well as the college tournament as well as opening day for practice for the bassmasters open. With that being said, I was able to find some vibrant hydrilla in south lake griffin with plenty of threadfin shad. A flashy swimmer with the 3.5” largo shad (tail segment left intact) was able to get bites when nothing else was. My boater was throwing speed worms, spinnerbaits, flukes, and lipless crank baits. The largo shad was all they wanted to bite on. With that one bait, I was able to get 16.47lbs in the boat and onto the scales for the win during that tournament. The dock talk proved that everyone else was struggling while I had bite after bite with the bigs being 5.5 & 4.5lbs.

Find deeper holes or clearings in the hydrilla (offshore) and slowly tick the chatterbait with a Gambler Little EZ on the back off of the grass tops. If the bait gets caught up in the grass rip it free and hold on.
