TechniqueHover/Mid-StrollingSeasonSummerStructureBaitfishFinding spots chasing blue hearing on shoals was the easy part. Getting them to bite a minnow was very difficult. Definitely heavily pressured fish.

TechniqueTubesSeasonSummerStructureBaitfishIt’s never a bad idea to toss a tube after throwing a topwater over a ball of bait. Sometimes the bass are waiting below for a easy meal to present itself.

TechniqueNeko RigsSeasonSummerStructurePointsYou are able to find a lot of fish out in deeper water. Getting them to bite is the hard part, it is mostly a timing thing so you will need to return to fish throughout the day. In the morning you can catch fish on moving baits like deep crank baits and jerk baits. Once the sun gets up high in the sky you need to switch to bottom baits. The neko rig is a great way to catch fish when they don’t want to bite. It helps when you can stay back off the fish so I’m using a 7’6” rod to gain some extra distance. It helps a lot to have a sensitive rod like the Steez AGS because most of the fish are biting on slack line or just mouthing the bite.

TechniqueShakey HeadsSeasonSummerStructureStanding TimberFish all over points 10-15 ft of water. Very finicky eaters. The main thing I could catch them on is the shakey head trick worm. Could see them on livescope chasing 3 inch swimbaits. I fished the seneca river arm. Not a topwater bite to be found. Fished 8 hrs and only 1 time did I see fish busting bait.
