Fish were chasing bait hard. Bait was blowing up everywhere. The key was to find areas where the big shad were. Smallmouth were using wingdams and laydowns to corral bait. Bladed jig caught a few but the main ticket was the A-Rig ran just sub surface where bait was present. Was throwing the arig on 7'4' bassX with a 8.8:1 piscifun alijoz 300 reel.

The bass are pushing bait back into the backwaters. Slack water areas off the main channels are key. Short casts/pitches with a 4ct pause seem to be working best to elicit strikes. The biggest fish are coming when you work the bait through the heart of the laydown out to the tip or working the bait parallel to the deep side of the laydown. This technique also works for large crappies, perch, and pike.
