Crappie
TechniqueCrappie Sniping (Casting/Single Poling)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationFishing for Crappies produced a mixed bag of Crappies, Sunifish, and Largemouth Bass. Primarily fished the weed edge (lake map depths of 12'-15') near and adjacent flat. Openings in the weed mat where weed cover changed from 2'-3' under the surface to open bottom excelled. The most productive results came from spot locking upwind of these pockets and casting back past them, running asmall 1/32 jig tipped with a Big Bite Bait Kamikaze Swimon (Crappie) plastic just above the shallow weeds and allowing the jig to drop into the pocket areas. most strikes occured on the fall of the jig into these holes. The sensativity to feel light bites came from using a St Croix Panfish series rod / Diawa Revros loaded with Sufix Nano Braid and an 8' Sufix advanced flurocarbon leaders.

TechniqueGrass JigsSeasonSummerStructureReedsGet in the shallows and flip those reeds, frog those pads, flip the grass, and skip those docks. There is some nice fish up shallow to catch. Shelfout Point is a great spot to start, I would try jumping around the south end of the lake and hitting as much vegetation as possible.

TechniqueTrolling Shallow (0-9')SeasonSummerStructureReedsFish seem to bite best when trolling about 1.7 2 mph along reed points. The winds was 10 to 15 mph. It was important to get enough line out there so your lure would be near the bottom. Using a line counter reel was very helpful This outing seem to produce bigger than average fish.

TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureReedsSlowly fishing reed pockets, mixed in natural colors and dark colors. Seemed like productive areas reloaded as the day went on, cycled back through areas where we had the best bites earlier in the day

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationWorking a drop shot around the weeds a 6-10 feet of water got some solid largemouth. Fish did not bite fast and furious, but was able to slowly catch them all day.
