We hunted on the outside edges of weed beds between 16 and 14 feet, ticking the tops of our weeds with our chatterbaits, mini maxes, an underspin swimbait, and the occasional drop shot. Water clarity was incredible, and it was a top 5 day out on LSC!

TechniqueHard Topwater (Prop)SeasonSummerStructureReedsI was targeting a channel along Harsens Island where the current was strong and the water temps were a bit lower than the main lake as the water was flowing from the channel of the St Clair River. Early morning topwater was the key. The Berkley Choppo in the Maverick color got the attention of this giant 5lb smallmouth in the middle of the flow. I was fishing between two sets of reed and grass banks, near the mouth of an eddy.
