TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonFallStructurePilingsThe air temps were running about mid 40’s and the water temps were holding in the low 50’s this day. Moving baits such as spinners and cranks weren’t getting any attention. I switched up to a BFS and wacky worm presentation. A Yamamoto Senko Watermelon Black Flake 5” on a 1/8oz weighted VMC wacky hook set and landed a 3+pounder on the first throw. I was tossing the Senko under the dock around pilings from the pier. A slow drop, pause and pop, followed by a slow drag, got their attention. A short time later I hooked onto a 5+pounder! This was my PB and got a perfect hookset on the top of the mouth with the wacky rig! The cold had them lethargic, but the wacky rig woke them up and forced the bigs to feed! Never be afraid to change up your presentation. They’re going to tell you what they want and when you find out - you got ‘em!

TechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonFallStructureRiver ChannelsI used a storm jointed flat stick fire tiger jerk bait. These musky are in the river channels chasing bait (shad and perch). When the water conditions are clean I like to throw natural colors but with a lot of noise to draw their attention up. Big rubber baits are also working but I like to throw what everyone else isn’t throwing.
