- Species
Walleye
TechniqueNed RigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationWe targeted wind-blown weed lines. Even with a substantial wind, keeping the jig light allowed us to work the bait through the weed edges and connect with some nice walleyes. The fish seemed to follow the bait almost to the boat at times.
- Species
Largemouth Bass
TechniqueNed RigsSeasonSummerStructureRock PileWe looked for deep rock spines around the lake and threw light Ned rigs. We caught a number of species, but mainly largemouth bass. Most fish hit on the drop. We kept moving and picked up a few fish in each location.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationHad a great tournament on Waconia flipping milfoil/coontail from 16-22 FOW. Most would eat on the fall. Find the thickest stuff and that's where they'll be

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationFun bite on Waconia now, all bass caught flipping a craw tube into 8-12 feet in the weeds. Tuesday night club had 5 bags over 15lbs.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueNed RigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationWe worked offshore weed lines in 10-20’. We had to keep moving because not all the weed lines held fish. Most bites were on the drop.

TechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSummerStructureBaitfishThe bass have definitely remained somewhat scattered throughout the lake this year, but thats not to say that you won't find clusters of them hanging out near weedlines and breaks. Many of the spots I usually fish on Waconia were nowhere near as productive as i expected them to be, but any of the spots you roll up on and can mark a school of smaller forage fish will be productive. A drop shot rigged with an Xzone Hot Shot minnow being constantly dragged had them absolutely fired up, might have to sift through a bunch of small ones, but the bigs will absolutely slam it too.
- Species
Panfish / Bluegill
TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationWe caught well over 50 fish near the island, tons of small bluegills, but some decent size pumpkin seed, the largest was a bit over 8” in length, also a few small largemouth bass.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueGrass JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationI looked for outside weed edges with healthy green vegetation with lots of bluegill activity. I slowly dragged a 1/2oz stealth feider with a kage 7'1 heavy jig rod through the weeds to get bites and then would downsize to a ned or dropshot to pull additional fish from the school. Better fish were buried deep in the vegetation so having a heavy rod was key to landing fish.
