Largemouth Bass
TechniqueHard Topwater (Popping)SeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassTake advantage of the early hours with foggy conditions! Smaller bass seemed to hit a frog on the edge of matted grass but some of the bigger bass wouldn’t commit or would miss the frog. Switched to a popper and landed this 4 lber on the first cast. Target pockets of matted grasses or edges and work at a medium pace. Also will get a few smaller northern to commit

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassTop water bite was on fire this morning with the fog. Key was to hit weeds that were nearly to the top around weeds that were matted on top of the water with some current from the breeze. Would take right as you pulled out of the emerged weeds above the submerged weeds on either side of the mat. Needed to hit before winds creates too much of a ripple and the fog cleared

Walleye
TechniqueDeep Diving Crankbaits (13'+)SeasonSummerStructureLedgesKey today was foggy cover with some light chop on top of the water. Used the Hornet 5.5 in the Perch color. Believe the wobble of the hornet and the speed were more important factors than the color. Key was to stay along the ledge edge between 10-15’ deep and key areas where there are 1-2 fr changes. Depending on the sun and wind they were found on the deeper edge or the top it was dependent on the conditions.

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSummerStructureDocksEven with cooler surface temps it seems you need to cover water to find feeding fish. Prefer to power fish quick and was able to find a couple decent fish around docks with a chatterbait. The slight breeze was just enough to throw off top water action in areas and make boat positioning tough (not having spot lock or power poles).

TechniqueHard Topwater (Prop)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationThe heat has definitely pushed the bass further in to cover or deeper. Fished the weed edges again with frogs, and popping lures with almost no success. Moved out deeper to more submerged weeds and utilized a toad rubber jr in the bone color to get the one and only fish. Had limited time due to kids being a long but think a Buzzbait over deeper weeds or pitching the matted grass edges would produce fish if the wind and cloud cover cooperates.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureLily PadsAfter a few days of more inconsistent bite, today there was definitely a pattern until late morning. You could catch smaller bass on the edges or pockets of matted grass weed lines but the bigger fish came along the lily pads. You had to walk the frog slowly with a few short pauses in and under lily pads to get the bigger fish to bite. At times if you got in the same gap they would hit it 2-3 times if they missed it the first time. If you moved out deeper you had to deal with small northerns slapping at the top water.

Panfish / Bluegill
TechniqueLive Bait RigsSeasonSummerStructureRock PileWater temp has cooled substantially and the panfish have moved to the edges of ledges. They will move around based on time of day and or heat but have luck running bottom bouncers with side scan fund areas they are keying on for that day. Will get bites and some nicer bluegills on bottom bouncers around pledges and drop offs. If can key in on area can drop a jig, ned head or drop shot out with a smaller twister tail or grub on.

TechniqueStructure JigsSeasonSummerStructureDocksFun lake to fish. Dock fishing for days. Basstek jig with rage bug trailer was key for skipping under docks.
