TechniqueHard Topwater (Popping)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureDocksSon woke me up and wanted to hit the bank before school. Turned out to be a great idea. 2 small, plus this nice one. 3 fish and at school by 7:50. MeggaBass PopX was getting the most strikes. Perch. I had a couple swipes at a bone Rebel popper. No hook ups though. Tight lines y’all !

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureLedgesThe cold front has the fish pushed back out to deep water. But a few still come in to feed in the mornings mid afternoon and right before sunset. I’m looking for parks and street ends that have little sandy beaches, especially with boulders, near a deep drop off. Didn’t get one fish on any hard baits today. Most came on a Spark Shad. Weightless with and EWG hook. Fan cast the area, let it sink and slow roll it back. Just enough to get the tail to flicker. 15 mins at a spot, no bites move to the next area. This is also gonna work in any of the local small pond/lakes. Phantom, Boren, Greenlake.. etc.

TechniqueLipless CrankbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureBaitfishIt was cold, windy and partly cloudy. I was covering water from parks and piers with a Chrome Rattle trap, chrome blue fox, and various Senkos. I work and area for about 30 mins and move on. All three fish today came on the Lipless, straight slow crank, no jig/lift and drop. Fish are in about 15-20 feet of water. Mostly males. You’ll see the fish chasing schools of what I believe are trout fry. First smallie of the season. 1 of four for the morning. Looks to have been making a bed. It’s about that time y’all ! Tight lines! TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureDocksMy usual go-to. Caught in the first cast! Really only good for one fish or two so I packed up after 15 min of casting and called it good. 6’8 M-XF Spinning rod for precision and quick hook setting speed. 12lb braid to 8lb fluoro. Go lighter on braid and fluoro (10lb to 6lb) if you are fishing waters with more visibility and less structure to get snagged on.
