TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureBouldersOur Wisconsin Kayak Fishing Club tournament on lake wissota Headed up to Jim falls dam. Early morning the Bite was on fire! Was throwing a Texas rigged with the black and blue strike manace. Any big Boulder rock you can see sticking out or even in the water the smallies were just next to hitting the bait. Once the sun gets up higher it was a bit harder to find them. Had to really get into the shoreline with any kind of shade and make a few cast in there.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureBouldersMorning was chilly at 50 degrees on a late August day with light breeze. First cast was at 610am on the northern portion of Lake Wissota against some boulders with steep drop offs. I was using my Daiwa Tatula Elite 7'6 H/F Flippin' casting rod with an 8.1 Daiwa Elite Pitch/Flip reel spooled with 40lb Sufix 131 braid tied to a 10' fluorocarbon 20lb leader. Texas rig setup was a 3/4oz tungsten with two stoppers, Gamakatsu 2/0 ringed EWG hook with X-Zone's Punisher Craw in Green Pumpkin. Important note on the punisher craws, I would not go bigger than 2/0 hooks, maybe 3/0 max. First cast, fish on. Second cast, fish on. I was catching them so fast and they were in all sizes, mostly big smallmouth. My first time at this lake and I was excited. I caught so many in the first hour that I had to hit spot lock because my hands and abdomen started cramping so I had to enjoy my coffee while it was still warm and eat my breakfast.
