We had a much better day post frontal than expected. We were fishing humps in the 16 to 20 foot range, On a few of the humps, we found humps close together, creating a perfect saddle where blue back herring seemed to be predominantly staying we started with 5XD But quickly found we had to change to 6XD To get to the correct depth to get bit. We fed several humps quickly, noticing if there was no blue back caring, there was no bass if when blowback hearing was present, the number of bass was fairly Good. By chance when moving from spot to spot, we noticed a large amount of schooling bass which we quickly turned around to get close enough to make a cast We didn’t catch any in the first school, but was close to A point and secondary point and tried to fish there they quickly began schooling on the second point to which we were able to make good cast and caught 4. Each point we found them schooling at we noticed was close to a creek channel and deeper water with some suspended fish 8’-11’/12’. We tied on some jig heads in 3/16 3/0 paired with Keitech 3.8” Fat Impact Smallmouth Magic. I normally use electric Shad or chartreuse Shad even. The chartreuse Shad I often use the easy shiner. Casting the fat impact and letting get to the depth I had to painfully slow roll it to get bit. Anything less than an 8.2:1 would have been better but that’s what I had at the time. Should be made fun of probably for be on Smith and forgetting to put the spinning rods back in the rod locker. While we caught a good number of fish for the conditions we had none were unfortunately picture worthy. We did throw a hair jig on some bluff walls, swim bait and spinnerbait in pockets but seemed to be a sightseeing exercise. Didn’t fish any docks with the day being cloudy to mainly cloudy.
